The journey to becoming a choir director or conductor is an exciting and rewarding adventure. Whether your vision is to conduct singers in the classroom or a house of worship, our curriculum and expert faculty provide you the opportunities and skills to grow into an effective leader and mentor.

Undergraduate students who are aiming for careers in choral conducting should enroll in our Bachelor of Music in music education because it includes multiple semesters of conducting classes and provides all the training needed for kindergarten through twelfth grade music jobs.

We have tailored concentrations for both keyboardists and vocalists. Vocalists who are interested in conducting both choir and opera might consider our performance degree, although it strongly emphasizes singing over conducting.

All music majors, regardless of their concentration, have the opportunity to enroll in choral conducting classes, and/or choose to sing in one of our choirs. We have gifted choral directors with national reputations who can help prepare you for choral jobs in churches or schools.

If you already have a bachelor's degree in music, consider our Master of Music in conducting. This graduate degree has a concentration in choral conducting and can be a perfect stepping stone to a job or doctoral degree.
