Cattle Repro Clinic
High school students are invitied to participate in a three-hour hands-on cattle artificial insemination clinic hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University's students enrolled in the "Artificial Insemination" course. Participants will learn the advantages of artificial insemination of cattle, as well as estrus detection, semen handling, genetics and sire selection.

Clinic Details:
- Class size is limited to 16 students per clinic. Only four students per organization per session. Limit one session per student.
If you have more students from your organization who are interested in the clinic, check after registration closes to see if other spots are available.
- Wear work clothes or coveralls and boots.
- Bring a change of clothes.
- Do not weare jewelry on hands or arms.
- Fingernails must be cut short (smooth with finger).

Beef Skillathon Camp
Our Beef Skillathon Camp is a two-day event where campers will have the opportunity to participate and learn about beef cattle management, including feeding and nutrition, reproduction, forage and forage analysis, digestion, feed identification, herd health, and current topics in the beef industry. On the final day of the camp, participants will compete in a beef skillathon competition.
Cost: $200 (includes housing and dining)
Dates: May 20-21.
Lamb Camp
Our Lamb Camp is a three-day event for lamb exhibitors eager to learn about feeding, care, nutrition, management, fitting and exhibiting their lamb project. Campers will be instructed by established members of the animal showmanship industry from across the state. On the final day of the camp, we will host a showmanship contest with awards given to the top performers.
Campers must be accompanied by a parent or advisor and will stay on the SFA campus. Pens to house the lambs will be provided at the Todd Agricultural Research Center.
Costs:
- $300 per participant (includes housing, dining, parking and camp T-shirt)
- $150 per parent/advisor
Dates: June 11-13.
Goat Camp
Our Goat Camp is a three-day event for goat exhibitors eager to learn about feeding, care, nutrition, management, fitting and exhibiting their goat project. Campers will be instructed by esteemed members of the animal showmanship industry from across the state. On the final day of camp, campers will have the opportunity to participate in a showmanship contest with awards given to top performers.
Campers and a parent or advisor will stay on the SFA campus. Pens to house the goats will be provided at the Todd Agricultural Research Center.
Costs:
- $300 per camper (includes housing, dining, parking and camp T-shirt)
- $150 per guardian
Dates: June 18-20.
Conservation Careers Camp
Our Conservation Careers Camp is open to students age 14 to 17 who are interested in exploring career opportunities in natural resource management through engaging, hands-on experiences led by SFA professors and industry professionals. Through hands-on learning programs, campers gain knowledge about environmental stewardship, land ethics and forest health, all while using high-end technology to experience the world in a new way.
The cost for the Conservation Careers Camp, including housing, field trips and dining, is $475.
The 2024 camp will take place July 7-11. Registration deadline is May 10, 2024.
Students who register by April 15th will be eligible for a $100 scholarship towards the total cost of the camp!
