Building valuable skills at SFA
Each year, SFA hosts a variety of events for area students involved in the 4-H and FFA. These fun events provide students with opportunities to build their skills and participate in career-focused competitions that help them build their knowledge about areas of agriculture such as agribusiness, animal science, horticulture, agricultural engineering and more.
Career and Leadership Development Opportunities
In the fall, the Department of Agriculture hosts FFA Leadership Development events. The Leadership Development events include a variety of leadership-focused competitions and activities such as skills demonstrations, quizzes, mock job interviews, broadcasting and more.
In January, SFA hosts three leadership workshops conducted by the Texas FFA.
Each spring, the Department of Agriculture hosts the SFA Invitational Career Development event. During this event, 4-H and FFA members participate in contests focused on specific areas of agriculture, such as entomology, forestry, livestock, milk quality, poultry, veterinary science and more.
