New Student Orientation and Family Programs

All incoming first-year Lumberjacks are required to attend Lumberjack Life, an extended Orientation program the week before fall classes

  • Move in your residence hall and get settled in.
  • Get to know campus before classes start.
  • Participate in campus traditions and make connections.
  • Learn about campus resources and academic tips for success.
  • Receive your very first axe handle.

  • Move-in weekend: Aug. 20-21
  • Lumberjack Life: Aug. 22-23

Commuter students

Not living on campus in the fall? Lumberjack Life is still for you! You will have the opportunity to connect with peers, staff and faculty, while getting to know the SFA campus. Check-in each day with an Orientation staff member to receive your schedule.

How do I pay for Lumberjack Life?

  • First-year students: Lumberjack Life is required for first-year students. This fee is included in your AXEcepted Day fee of $140.
  • Transfer students: Lumberjack Life, which is optional for transfer students, requires an additional fee of $90 (non-refundable). You may register for this session when you complete your AXEcepted Day registration.
