Welcome to SFA! We are so excited you have chosen to be Lumberjack! For first-year students, orientation is a two-step process:

  • Step 1- attend an AXEcepted Day. (Registration for AXEcepted Day coming soon!) 
    • Sign-up for a one-day session on the orientation page in mySFA
      • learn more about your academic major and minor
      • meet your academic dean, academic advisor, faculty and administration
      • meet new and current students and learn from others' experiences
      • and be more prepared for your first day, first year and college experience.
  • Step 2- attend Lumberjack Life.
    • Dates: August 22-23, 2025
    • All first-year students will attend this extended orientation.
      • Move-in to your residence hall.
      • Get to know campus.
      • Participate in campus traditions.
      • Attend exclusive events
      • Receive your very first axe handle.

Registration Details

Registration for AXEcepted Day and Parent/Family Member Orientation occurs through the Orientation tab on your mySFA account. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email through mySFA. Additional details regarding AXEcepted Day will be emailed throughout the summer, so check your student email regularly.

Cost: $140/student
Included: meals, AXEclusive orientation swag, publications and materials, programming and administrative costs.

Changing Your Session

Requests to change your orientation session must be received at least two weeks prior to the preferred session.

You will receive a confirmation email through mySFA once availability has been confirmed and your request has been granted.

To request a change in orientation session, complete the online form.

Canceling Your Registration

The deadline to cancel your registration is June 1. Forms received by this date will receive a credit to your eBill minus the cancellation fee of $20 per student and $10 per guest. Additional information regarding the credit will be sent via email once the form is completed.

FAQ

If I haven’t taken the TSI test, what should I do?

Contact the TSI coordinator in the Student Success Center to verify your TSI testing requirements. If you are required to take the TSI Assessment, you must submit scores prior to being eligible to register for classes. TSI testing is available online, and limited in-person testing is available on the SFA campus. Contact Testing Services for in-person testing availability at 936.468.3958 or sfatesting@sfasu.edu.

I took the TSI. Where do I send my scores?

Email TSI scores or other TSI documentation to tsi@sfasu.edu. If you do not have access to your scores, call the Student Success Center.

If you have tested more than once, check that SFA has your highest scores on file. Scores may be viewed on your student records account with your mySFA credentials. 

Call 936.468.5803 to speak with the TSI coordinator.

How do I take care of the holds on my account?

Log in to the registration page in mySFA. Any holds will include the hold type and the contact information for the office you must contact to clear the hold. 

You cannot register if there are holds on your account. 

When can I register for classes?

You can register for classes through mySFA once you have been advised. Registering prior to attending Orientation is highly encouraged.

When do new students move in?

How can I change my major?

To change your major prior to AXEcepted Day, complete the online form using your mySFA credentials.
