- Our move-in checklist is a great resource to help make sure you have everything you need. Firearms are strictly prohibited unless authorized by campus carry policy.
What to leave at home
The following items are prohibited in the residence halls. More information, when available, is located in the community guidelines.
- Alcoholic beverages and alcohol-labeled containers
- Candles, oil lamps, incense, sage and other open-flame sources
- Controlled substances, drugs and drug paraphernalia
- Cooking supplies not supplied by SFA: slow cooker, hot plate, air fryer, toaster oven, barbecue grill and sandwich maker
- Extension cords and multiplug adapters
- Lighter fluid, fireworks and explosives
- Incense and oil/wax scent diffusers, plug-ins, etc.
- Micromobility devices powered by lithium-ion batteries, such as scooters, hover boards or electric bikes
- Pets
- Exceptions include fish in a 10-gallon tank (or smaller), nonaquatic birds and *emotional support animals.
- Space heater, electric blanket, heating pad or air conditioner
- String lights must be LED only and not adhesive
- Road, street and traffic signs
- Weapons of any kind, including toy weapons
- Wi-Fi routers or 3D printers
*Emotional support animals should be approved prior to arrival via special accommodations.
