Picnic in the Pines is an event hosted by students in the "Special Events Production" course in SFA's hospitality administration program. This event is a new take on the former Kentucky Derby Dinner and Silent Auction and will feature heavy hors d'oeuvres, cupcakes and mocktails made by students enrolled in hospitality courses.
Students in the special events production course will be planning all aspects of the event. The students’ responsibilities include organizing the menu, collecting auction item donations, marketing the event, managing ticket sales, setting up decorations and all other aspects of the planning. Students from the introductory hospitality course, as well as other hospitality students, will assist with the event.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit the School of Human Sciences through student scholarships, student travel funds to conferences and industry events, and faculty development programs.
