Uniquely designed to meet the needs of SFA’s diverse student population, the Bachelor of Science in human sciences with a human development and family studies concentration was the university’s first fully online program.
Your studies will provide an in-depth understanding of how individuals and families grow, change and develop over time. Although our courses are online, we don’t overlook the importance of hands-on, direct experience. You’ll complete a 200-hour practicum that will help you grow in your field of interest, and you’ll have the opportunity to participate in professional development programs, including field trips and volunteering.

The broad focus of the Bachelor of Science in human development and family studies prepares you for a career in a variety of fields, including adoption agencies, youth programs, child welfare, patient advocacy, hospitals, marriage and family enrichment programs, nursing homes, and corporate child care. Graduates also work in research, international education and development, early childhood education, and faith-based organizations.

BS in human sciences with a human development and family studies concentration
The program provides an understanding of how human development is a lifelong process that involves physical, emotional and psychological factors. Courses cover topics from child development to gerontology.
The BS in human sciences with a human development and family studies concentration is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) approved program by the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).
