Bring your work dreams to life

Imagine spending your days alongside the hospitality pros at a theme park resort, in the buying office of one of America’s premier retailers or working to help shape the life of a child from a low-income family. Now, imagine doing all of this while you’re still an SFA student.

Seem too good to be true? It’s not. Those are just a few of the internships that School of Human Sciences students have participated in previously.

An internship provides an opportunity to practice your classroom studies, gain exposure to your field of interest and discover whether your chosen field is really what you want to pursue. Students who participate in an internship experience have a definite advantage in the job market, as experience is extremely important to future employers.

Exciting internships

In recent years, SFA students have interned at Disney, Neiman Marcus, Head Start, Gensler Architects and WIC. Others have participated in exciting and valuable internships closer to campus —and even on campus.

SFA will help you identify possible internships that meet your academic and career goals. The Center for Career and Professional Development collaborates with the campus community and area employers to provide internship opportunities (advertised through Jobs4Jacks) and offers advice and other resources.

All departments within the School of Human Sciences require internships as part of their degree plans. Internships are viewed as a culminating experience —an opportunity to apply the concepts, principles and theories learned in the classroom to the "real world."
