Thinking about becoming an art teacher? Now is the time, and SFA is the place. Through a dynamic, student-centered environment focused on real-world experiences, our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education program is community-focused and culturally responsive.
Your classes will combine active studio practice, in-depth development of classroom theories, and a range of approaches for teaching and learning to ensure you are prepared teach students of your own.
In addition to classroom teaching, the BFAAE prepares you for careers in public and community art programs, and museum and nonprofit art education.
Hands-on coursework
The coursework begins with a foundation in theory and practice, building student knowledge and experience through a series of immersive studio courses that help students develop their own unique art education philosophy. Students complete their student art education experience with field experience and clinical teaching experience in a K-12 art classroom.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education with a concentration in all-level K-12
The BFAAE with a concentration in all-level K-12 prepares you to become eligible to seek certification with the Texas Education Agency to teach all-level art in Texas Public Schools.
