SFA Board of Regents approves faculty, staff changes


The appointments of two new deans at Stephen F. Austin State University were approved by the Board of Regents Tuesday. Dr. Danny R. Arnold will lead the Nelson Rusche College of Business, and Dr. Judy A. Abbott will head the James I. Perkins College of Education. Both deans will begin their new duties Aug. 1.

Other faculty appointments within the College of Education include: Robbie Steward, chair and professor of human services; Vicki Seeger, assistant professor of elementary education; and Pamela Cheatham, Robin Johnson and Leah Kahn, instructors of elementary education.

New lights to continue long-standing SFA tradition


A new spin on an old Stephen F. Austin State University tradition will be visible in the night sky following the first athletic victory of the fall semester.

Two rotating purple beacon lights placed atop Steen Towers will now be used to alert SFA students and supporters of all sports wins, both at home and away.

Scholarship applications available for SFA's Music Preparatory Division


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Scholarship applications are now being accepted for music instruction through the Stephen F. Austin State University Music Preparatory Division. The partial tuition scholarships are awarded on the basis of need and can be applied to private lessons or group instruction.

Registration open for Kindermusik Adventure Camps at SFA


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Parents of newborns through 7-year-olds can register their children for the Kindermusik Adventure Camps to be offered through the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music Monday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 6. Registration deadline for the four age-appropriate sessions is Wednesday, July 21.

SFA composition professor named artist-in-residence

SFA Gardens Les Reeves Lecture to feature gardens that make scents


The SFA Gardens will host its monthly Les Reeves Garden Lecture at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building located on Wilson Drive on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.

Dawn Stover, long-time SFA Gardens research associate, will present an intoxicating program, titled "The Scentual Garden," and will feature fragrant plants for today's garden.
