SFA Center for a Livable World to host expert panel on sustainability

Austin (SFA) State University's Center for a Livable World.

SFA Music Prep offers summer dance classes for adults and children


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS- Reaching beyond music lessons, the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will offer dance and movement classes this summer for both adults and children. All classes will be taught in Room 201 of the Norton Health and Physical Education Building.

SFA hosts art opening and screening of 'The National Parks'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - An art opening and free film should bring a large crowd to The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House on the evening of Friday, June 4, according to Christian Cutler, director of galleries at Stephen F. Austin State University.

"At 5:30 p.m. the School of Art will open 'Nac Collects,' which offers a fascinating glimpse inside the homes of Nacogdoches art collectors who have graciously agreed to share their art works with us," Cutler continued.

SFA to host band camps


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will once again host a series of band camps for middle and senior high school instrumentalists and drum majors during the month of June.

"For two weeks, students from across the state will rehearse and perform as members of various concert groups and receive instruction from a world-class teaching staff composed of SFA faculty and some of the best public school teachers in Texas," said Gary Wurtz, assistant director of the SFA School of Music.

SFA Music Prepartory Division offers summer lessons and camps


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Private music lessons and dance classes for children and adults, an adult piano class, Kindermusik camps for newborns through 7-year-olds and group piano sessions for middle and high school students are all part of the summer program offered by the Music Preparatory Division at Stephen F. Austin State University.

SFA offering art educators' retreat in June


Participants in a previous Art Educators' Retreat work on one of the many projects completed by community college, elementary, middle and high school art teachers during the four-day retreat offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art.

State senator to speak at SFA spring commencement


State Sen. Kevin Eltife


State Sen. Kevin Eltife will address new graduates during Stephen F. Austin State University's spring commencement ceremony Saturday.

Eltife, a Tyler native, has been representing the citizens of Texas Senate District 1 since March 2004. He previously served three terms on the Tyler City Council and as mayor of Tyler for an additional three terms.

SFA Agriculture to host Barnyard Day

Experience a day of fun on the farm as the Department of Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University hosts Barnyard Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 22, at the Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research Center.

Visitors of all ages will get a chance to see baby farm animals, enjoy games and a maze, and take a hayride farm tour.
