Human Sciences alumnus Robert Levy will receive the Edna Wilkin Teagarden Exemplary Service Award in Human Sciences at the Human Sciences Honors Convocation at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, in Regents Suite A of the Baker Pattillo Student Center at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Grammy-nominated jazz trombonist Conrad Herwig will perform in concert with the SFA Swingin' Axes at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. The concert marks the last event of the SFA College of Fine Arts' 2009-2010 University Series.

SFA Wind Ensemble to present "Contempo"


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA Wind Ensemble will present "Contempo," a concert of contemporary band music, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.

"Most of the pieces on the program were written within the last 10 years, and all were considered 'new' during their time," said Fred J. Allen, SFA director of bands and conductor of the Wind Ensemble. "We're even including a new edition of a John Philip Sousa march."

SFA photographer earns awards at conference


Two recent photographs by Stephen F. Austin State University photographer Hardy Meredith received awards at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education's recent District IV conference in Austin.

Meredith received Special Awards (fourth place) in both the Structured Color Photography and Black-and-White Photography categories for his photos titled "Dr. Deer and Company" and "Header," respectively.
