SFA to present Pi Kappa Lambda scholarship concert


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present the Pi Kappa Lambda Annual Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in Cole Concert Hall in the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.

The concert will feature faculty from all areas of the SFA School of Music in an extravaganza fundraiser. All proceeds benefit the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, which presents a scholarship each year to the sophomore music major with the highest grade point average.

SFA Department of Mathematics to host ETMTC in 2014-2015

The Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Mathematics will continue to host East Texas Math Teachers' Circle this academic year. ETMTC is an opportunity for middle and high school mathematics teachers to rediscover their love for mathematics by exploring problem solving with SFA mathematics faculty members.

SFA Center for Regional Heritage Research receives grant for 3-D preservation of Caddo artifacts

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University has been awarded a $39,600 grant from the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training to digitally preserve and study hundreds of Caddo ceramics obtained from archaeological sites throughout East Texas.

Huckaby art exhibition to close with reception


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The exhibition "Sedrick Huckaby: Quiet Dialogues" will close with a reception with the artist in attendance from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The exhibition, which features expressive oil paintings with heavy applications of impasto depicting members of Huckaby's African-American family, has been on display since July 25. The exhibition also features a selection of prints and drawings from his recently completed "99 Percent" suite.
