Students who are currently home schooled or attending high school and want to take college classes for dual credit are required to meet Texas Success Initiative requirements before enrolling in college-level coursework.

Do you qualify for an exemption?

If you have any of the following scores or higher and your testing date is less than five years old, you qualify for a partial or full exemption. 

TSI Assessment for mathematics
  • ACT scores taken before March 2023
    • 23 composite and 19 math (from same testing date)
  • ACT scores taken March 2023 to present
    • 22 math (no composite score)
  • SAT score: 530 math
  • Algebra II STAAR score: 4000
TSI Assessment for English language arts/reading and essay
  • ACT scores taken before March 2023
    • 23 composite and 19 English (from same testing date)
  • ACT scores taken March 2023 to present
    • 40 combined reading and writing scores (scores may be from separate tests, no super scores, no composite score)
  • SAT score: 480 evidence-based reading/writing
  • English III STAAR score: 4000

TSIA2 benchmark scores

  • Math 950 or less than 950 + 6 Diagnostic
  • Reading/Writing 945 + 5 Essay or less than 945 + 5 Diagnostic + 5 Essay

If you enroll in college coursework via a waiver, you must successfully complete the enrolled college course to receive "TSI Complete" status for the subject.
