Exemption applies to tuition, mandatory fees and textbooks. If the you're eligible to live in on-campus housing, SFA also will provide you with room and board. If no housing is available, a room and board stipend equal to the amount you could have received if living on campus.

Eligibility

Eligible students are those who:

  • are a surviving spouse or dependent minor of a public employee who died in the performance of their duty on or after Sept. 1, 2000
  • and are enrolled full-time.

Continuation requirements

If on the completion of any semester or term you fail to meet the GPA requirements described in SFA's policy regarding eligibility for financial aid or have reached the excessive hour rule limits, you may not receive the exemption for the next semester or term in which you enroll.

How to apply

Upload the certificate using the directions below. When prompted, select "Other Exemption."

  1. Using your mySFA credentials to log in, visit the document upload page.
  2. Select the appropriate option from the drop-down menu.
  3. Upload the documentation.
