NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present the student-directed one-act play “The Yellow Boat” by David Saar at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.
SFA music faculty to present annual Pi Kappa Lambda scholarship concert
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Faculty members of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will be the featured performers during the annual Pi Kappa Lambda Music Faculty Showcase at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The concert highlights the talents of the diverse School of Music performing faculty, according to Dr. Jamie Weaver, associate professor of music history at SFA and president of Pi Kappa Lambda honors society. Proceeds from the concert fund scholarships for deserving SFA music majors selected by the honors society.
Ticket sales opening soon for SFA’s Culinary Café, Lumberjack Express
NACOGDOCHES, Texas –– Ticket sales for Stephen F. Austin State University’s student-run Culinary Café and Lumberjack Express mobile food lab will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, with food service beginning at both eateries Sept. 27.
Tickets for Culinary Café, located at 1401 Mound St., are $12 for a three-course meal, along with tea, coffee and water. Tickets are not limited per person but quickly sell out. Lunch will be served starting at 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday. Guests are encouraged to arrive by 12:15 p.m.
SFA launches Center for Business and Economic Research
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — As part of its goal to provide expert economic research, analysis and consulting services in the East Texas region and beyond, Stephen F. Austin State University’s Rusche College of Business has established the Center for Business and Economic Research.
Housed in SFA’s Department of Economics and Finance, the nonprofit center offers data analysis, market research and economic impact analysis to the community while providing real-world training to SFA students.
SFA to host Her Majesty’s Consul General in Platinum Jubilee ceremony
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Consul General Richard Hyde and senior staff members from the British Consulate in Houston will make Stephen F. Austin State University their first stop on a 2,500-mile road trip celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
As part of their stop, consulate staff and university administrators will host a tree planting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, along Aikman Drive. The Nacogdoches and campus communities are invited to attend.
SFA SRT student enjoys dream internship with favorite producer and band
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – A dream internship for a Sound Recording Technology student at Stephen F. Austin State University led Andrea Pacas to work this past summer with a producer and band she greatly admired, and the experience put her one step closer to the goal of one day owning her own recording studio.
A senior from Tyler who is on track to graduate from SFA in December 2022, Pacas received mixing assistant credit on what is currently Billboard’s No. 8 album in the Top 200 and No. 3 on the UK rock and metal charts.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association will honor eight alumni during its awards banquet beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at The Fredonia Hotel in Nacogdoches.
The SFA Alumni Awards honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their professions and the community and who advance the goals and values of SFA.

SFA’s Dr. Sarah Straub lands grant to create academy for Nacogdoches girls
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin State University’s Dr. Sarah Straub, an associate professor in the James I. Perkins College of Education’s Department of Education Studies, was recently awarded a $58,000 grant through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department that will fund a science academy for up to 100 girls in the Nacogdoches Independent School District.
