SFA student receives Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award
NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Amber Borel, a sophomore forestry major at Stephen F. Austin State University, was awarded the 2022 Tony Houseman Conservation Legacy Award, recognizing her service to others and dedication to advancing the field of conservation.
The annual award, presented by Higher Calling Wildlife, a conservation-based publication, celebrates the legacy of Tony Houseman, an East Texas businessman known for his philanthropy and wildlife conservation advocacy.
SFA theatre students to present Ruhl’s ‘Eurydice’ one-act play

Austin State University School of Theatre and Dance will present the student-directed one-act play “Eurydice” by Sarah Ruhl at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in Regents Suite A in the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.

SFA Chamber Singers to present ‘Lighten My Darkness’
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Chamber Singers at Stephen F. Austin State University will perform choral music with themes of light, darkness and hope. The “Lighten My Darkness” concert will feature works by Jeffrey Van, Alice Parker, Tomas de Victoria, Josu Elberdin, Moses Hogan, Troy Robertson, Reginald Unterseher and Zachary Moore.
The students perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus. Dr. Michael Murphy, director of choral activities at SFA, conducts the Chamber Singers.
