SFA professor emeritus to speak at SFA commencement

Professor Emeritus Craig Wood will serve as commencement speaker for the Stephen F. Austin State University summer graduation ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15 in William R. Johnson Coliseum.
Wood was named professor emeritus this spring after devoting 30 years of service to the SFA computer science department, where he has served as professor and department chair.
SFA's chamber music festival continues with 'Impressionism Concert'

SFA offers free seminar, 'Eating Out: You Are What You Eat'
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Messages about healthy eating habits bombard Americans each and every day, but actually making healthy choices-especially when dining at a restaurant-is difficult for many, according to Kathie Robinson, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator.
To assist East Texans in putting those messages into practice, Robinson will present a free seminar, "Eating Out: You Are What You Eat," at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the Ledbetter Gallery of The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.
Registration slated for SFA Music Preparatory Division instruction
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will register students for private lessons, classes and ensembles from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
SFA Mast Arboretum Lecture Series to feature tree expert
The Stephen F. Austin State University Mast Arboretum will host its monthly Les Reeves Garden Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, in the Agriculture Building Room 110 on Wilson Drive. Dr. Jason Griffin from Kansas State University will present "Growing Trees on the Treeless Plains of Kansas." Griffin is an ornamentals and woody plants research scientist and serves as the director of the John C. Pair Horticulture Center in Haysville, Kan.
A free plant raffle will be held following the lecture. There is no charge for the lecture, and no reservations are required.
