NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Nacogdoches Naturally will host a family field trip to the Caney Creek Recreation Area on Saturday, May 5.
Participating families will meet at 8 a.m. at Stephen F. Austin State University's Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet St., and ride in SFA vans or caravan in personal vehicles to the site.
SFA history student earns national research award

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Jake McAdams, a senior majoring in history at Stephen F. Austin State University, recently was awarded the Ben H. Procter Research Paper Award from the Phi Alpha Theta national history honor society.
SFA Music Preparatory recitals scheduled
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Students enrolled in private and group lessons offered by the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will perform in a series of end-of-the-semester recitals in May.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, SFA student teachers will present their students in recital in conjunction with piano students studying with Dr. Mario Ajero. The joint recital will be in Cole Concert Hall, located in the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Drive on the SFA campus.
Trombone Choir final concert of the season

The Trombone Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present its final concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, in Cole Concert Hall. According to the choir's director, Associate Professor of Trombone Deb Scott, the first half of the program will be devoted to four trombone quartets.
SFA Wind Symphony schedules 'Blue!' concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - A collection of wind band pieces based on the color blue will be presented during the Stephen F. Austin State University Wind Symphony's concert, "Blue!" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.
"The program includes pieces such as John Mackey's 'Hymn to a Blue Hour' and 'Blue Shades' by Frank Ticheli, one of the most widely performed composers of wind band music in the world," said David W. Campo, SFA associate director of bands and the Wind Symphony's conductor.
SFA and The Arbor gather donations to help children in need
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Students in the Aging and Social Problems class at Stephen F. Austin State University and residents of The Arbor Assisted Living Facility are working together to collect donations for the Rainbow Room, which will benefit children in Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The upcoming Stephen F. Austin State University Regents Lecture by Dr. Jimmie Yeiser, director of the Forest Resources Institute and holder of the T.L.L. Temple Chair in the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture, will focus on Texas' invasive plant and animal species and their impact on ecosystems.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Karol Chandler-Ezell, assistant professor of anthropology at Stephen F. Austin State University, is the recipient of the Ruth Benedict Global Citizenship Award from the Center for a Public Anthropology.
SFA bands to present free outdoor concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University bands will present a free "Concert in the Park" at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the wooded area between the Baker Pattillo Student Center and the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, honorary band service fraternity and sorority, will be selling hamburger plates that include a hamburger, chips and a drink.
