SFA Gardens Lecture Series to Feature Greg Grant


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host the monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in the Agriculture Building, Room 110, at 1924 Wilson Drive. SFA Gardens horticulturist and writer Greg Grant will present "Gardening for Love - An Arcadian Dogtrot."

SFA to debut new shuttle bus system


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - An expanded shuttle system will transport Stephen F. Austin State University students along a circular route between six popular destinations on campus this fall.

The new Jack Track system will employ four new climate-controlled buses, each seating 24 passengers, that are ADA approved with a lift ramp and capacity for two wheelchairs. The buses will run continuously from 7:20 a.m. to 5:20 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SFA freshmen meeting increased admission standards


First-year students entering Stephen F. Austin State University this fall have met higher academic standards than any previously admitted students.

The higher admission standards were approved by regents in January 2010 based on a recommendation by a committee of faculty and staff members that studied the standards in place at that time.

SFA to open faculty member's art painting exhibition


"Rocket Morton," a 2012 painting by SFA Assistant Professor of Art Runcie Tatnall, is one of the pieces included in "Runcie Tatnall: Mighty." The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Art will open the exhibition at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House as part of the 2012-2013 Gallery Series.

East Texas students interested in learning how to play the harp can take lessons from internationally acclaimed harpist Emily Mitchell through the Music Preparatory Division of Stephen F. Austin State University. Mitchell is one of many SFA music faculty and student teachers who offer private instructions through the Music Preparatory Division.

SFA to screen documentary on Burma


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly independent film series, the SFA School of Art will present a free, one-night film screening of "They Call It Myanmar: Lifting the Curtain" at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

The 70-minute documentary, shot clandestinely over a two-year period, gives an intimate look inside the isolated country also known as Burma.

SFA Board of Regents approves faculty, staff changes
