Extra, extra
The Pine Log is SFA’s award-winning, independent, free online newspaper. The student staff is committed to providing the campus community with fair and balanced coverage of university and local news and sports as well as informed opinion pieces, including columns and editorials.
During the fall and spring semesters, The Pine Log content is updated daily, and a newsletter is emailed to all enrolled students every week. During the summer, the staff produces an annual print Welcome Edition, which is mailed to the homes of all incoming first-year and transfer students. The Pine Log prints other special editions when needed.
Get involved
Fewer things help young journalists get their start more than the student newspaper. There’s nothing quite like getting out there and finding the stories that matter.
As a student journalist at the Pine Log, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in editing, interviewing, photography and writing that will pave the way to exciting careers in journalism or related fields.
The Pine Log is always looking for fresh voices and new talent to help keep things running smoothly. The Pine Log student staff includes an editor-in-chief editors, writers, photographers, videographers and illustrators. Applications for paid positions are accepted in late fall and late spring for the following semester’s staff. Interested students may apply online.
