A message from Dr. Michael Walker, interim department chair
Welcome to the Department of Human Services and Educational Leadership! If you want to pursue a career that will enhance people’s ability to experience life more completely and successfully, then you have arrived at the right place — we are all about helping others help themselves.
Our objectives include preparation of students for careers in:
- counseling and related human services
- educational leadership and athletic directing
- rehabilitation services
- occupations serving persons with disabilities
- school psychology
- and speech-language pathology.
Our top-notch human services and educational leadership programs are accredited by national professional organizations and offer the best training practices available based on national standards. Eight on-campus clinics and laboratories offer trainees opportunities to work as faculty-supervised practitioners using cutting-edge technology. Student participation in research and scholarship is encouraged.
As an SFA human services and educational leadership graduate, you will embark on your journey with a well-rounded comprehension of current professional literature, practical theory, laboratory technique and person-to-person interactive skills. Upon graduation, you will be more competitive in pursuit of employment and additional graduate degrees in your chosen field.
