Performance venue policies

Late seating

Allow extra time for parking to avoid late seating. Latecomers will be seated at the house manager's discretion in the best available seats during the first appropriate interval.

Note: Some venues do not permit late seating due to the intimate nature of the space. Late seating allowances are stated in the venue details.

Student discount tickets

University students (SFA and other) holding discounted tickets will be asked to show their valid campus ID to the usher upon admission to performances.

Photographs/Recordings

Taking of photographs or use of any recording devices within the venues is strictly prohibited.

Electronic Devices

Turn off and put away any cell phones, tablets or other electronic devices. While their sounds are disruptive, the glow from screens is distracting to audience members and performers.

Food, beverages and tobacco

No food or drink is permitted in the venues. The use of tobacco/vape products is prohibited on SFA's campus.

Black Box Theatre

The Black Box Theatre provides the School of Theatre and Dance with an intimate and flexible space for students to practice directing, acting and design. Larger than its predecessor, the Downstage Theatre, the Black Box Theatre seats 125 - 150 patrons on versatile risers and portable padded chairs.

Accessible seating is available. Late seating is not available due to the intimate nature of the space.

Cole Concert Hall

The Cole Concert Hall showcases nearly 150 student, faculty and guest artist concerts and recitals each year. The general admission hall seats 340 patrons on a single level with accessible seating available.

Located on the southwest side of the Wright Music Building, the entrance is accessed from the building exterior rather than the inside.

Late seating is available between pieces during applause.

Dance Performance Studio

Home to the School of Theatre and Dance's numerous dance productions, this studio seats 75 - 100 patrons in padded portable chairs.

Accessible seating is available. Late seating is not available due to the intimate nature of the space.

Flexible Theatre

The Flexible Theatre houses the Mainstage Series along with other events produced by the School of Theatre and Dance. This 249-seat space can be configured in multiple stage and seating arrangements to allow greater creativity and exploration of design.

Accessible seating is available. Late seating is available at the discretion of the house manager.

Music Recital Hall

The Music Recital Hall is located within the Wright Music Building. Serving as a classroom during the day, the hall transforms on most evenings to a performance space for numerous student and faculty recitals.

This general admission hall seats 140 patrons on a single level, and accessible seating is available.

Late seating is available between pieces during applause.

William M. Turner Auditorium

This multi-purpose space is the college's largest venue, with a proscenium stage and seating capacity of nearly 800. Named after William M. Turner, the college's dean from 1965 to 1978, it reopened in 2023 with new seats, improved acoustics and upgraded technical capabilities.

Wheelchair access and bariatric seating is available on the floor level. Accessible seating is unavailable in the balcony.

Late seating is available at the discretion of the house manager.
