SFA students have access to hundreds of opportunities to get scholarship funding to help with college expenses. You just need to explore and apply!
Media and communication scholarships
Mass communication students at SFA also are eligible for several specific scholarships.
Don Candler Scholarship
This scholarship is to benefit a journalism major who is a sophomore or above.
Dr. Tom D. Kennedy Scholarship
This scholarship is provided to outstanding journalism students attending Stephen F. Austin State University.
Francine Hoffman Memorial Journalism Scholarship
This scholarship is available for a full-time student majoring in journalism.
George Bokorney Scholarship
This scholarship is to benefit journalism majors with a GPA of 2.5 or better.
James and Wilma Fuller Communication/Public Relations Scholarship
This scholarship is for the benefit of media and communication majors. Preference will be given to students with a concentration in public relations and demonstrating financial need.
Joe B. Shaw Memorial Communication Scholarship
This scholarship is intended for the benefit of students who are media and communication majors.
Mike Crim Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available for a full-time student majoring in journalism.
Norman Johnson Scholarship
This scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students studying media and communication with an emphasis in radio/television. Students awarded this scholarship must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
Pat Spence Scholarship for The Pine Log
Students who have completed a minimum of one full semester of employment on staff at The Pine Log and have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or higher are eligible for this scholarship.
Ray Belsley Mass Communication Scholarship
This scholarship is available to full-time students who are focusing on radio/television. A GPA of 2.0 or higher is required.
Southwestern Bell Communication Scholarship
This scholarship is open to media and communication majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
University Regents Scholarship – Mass Communication
This award opportunity, which provides up to $3,000, is for first-time incoming students at the freshman, sophomore or junior level who plan to major in mass communication. Learn more about requirements and renewals.
