Increasing Connections
In order to provide the transformative educational experiences to SFA students that will lead to meaningful and sustainable enrollment growth, we must look outside the confines of our campus and build relationships with constituents who can help the university fulfill its academic, research and service missions, specifically:
- K-12 schools and two-year institutions - More than just dual-credit courses and articulation agreements, the relationships SFA maintains with its partner institutions must be more highly developed than ever. This may include initiatives such as satellite offices and new SFA-course offerings on other campuses.
- Local government - Increasing opportunities for economic development, shared resources, and collaboration can create an improved quality of life for both the students of SFA and Nacogdoches residents. Campus-community partnerships can provide transformative experiences for SFA students, including service learning, civic engagement, and internship opportunities.
- Alumni - With more than 104,000 living alumni, the repository of support for SFA should seem unlimited. A stronger outreach effort is critical to increasing the willingness of our alumni to support their alma mater financially and with their time and talent.
- Corporate partners - Mutually beneficial relationships with business and industry can increase corporate funding opportunities, create internships for SFA students, provide insights that strengthen the curriculum, and better prepare SFA students for their careers. SFA must be poised to provide innovative workforce development programs and to engage in sponsored research projects.
