Physical Plant Department

The Physical Plant Department supports the mission and core values of the university in an efficient, safe and cost-effective manner. Physical Plant employees fulfill this mission by serving students, faculty, staff and all university programs to contribute to their success and quality of life.

Submit a Request

The Physical Plant Department is responsible for the administration of all education and general facilities and associated services, including:

  • Building maintenance (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting)
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Custodial services (cleaning, recycling)
  • Transportation services (maintenance, rental, shuttles/road buses)
  • Street maintenance (cleaning, paving, sealing, striping)

Campus residents should follow stated protocol for submitting a work order request.

If you need assistance submitting a request or need to follow up with an existing work order, please call our work control desk at 936.468.3206 between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., or email PPDworkcontrol@sfasu.edu. Instructions for how to submit request can be found in our AiM User Guide.

Emergency

An emergency is a situation which can cause bodily harm, structural damage or a work stoppage. In the event an emergency occurs during regular business hours, contact the Physical Plant Department at ext. 3206 or The University Texas Police Department at SFA immediately. After hours contact the police deparment at ext. 2608.

The following are some examples of what would be classified as an emergency:

  • Fire smoke, or burning odors
  • Natural gas odors
  • Heavy flooding
  • Loss of power or water
  • Explosion

If at any time you are uncertain whether a present situation would be considered an emergency, please contact the Physical Plant or UTS-SFA police department immediately, and we will assist you accordingly.
