UCA partner stunts champions


SFA seniors Alec Heffron of Emporia, Kan., and Alli Pagnotta of Canyon County, Calif., placed first in the Universal Cheerleaders Association national championships on Jan. 13 in Orlando, Fla. The SFA Spirit Teams' routines for nationals will be showcased at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 30, in William R. Johnson Coliseum.

Faculty recitals slated at SFA


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of the Cole Performing Arts Series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present two faculty recitals this week, both at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Concert Hall.

Trombonist Deb Scott and pianist Ron Petti will perform on Monday, Jan. 30, and the Alazan Trio-composed of violinist Jennifer Dalmas, cellist Evgeni Raychev and Petti-will perform on Thursday, Feb. 2.

SFA to open photography and art metals exhibitions


Frank Dituri's "Light from Above" is one of the photographs included in "Frank Dituri: Of Things Not Seen," which the SFA School of Art will open at 6 p.m. with an artist reception on Thursday, Feb.

SFA Wind Ensemble concert concludes its Winter Tour


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA Wind Ensemble's 2012 Winter Tour will culminate in a 7:30 p.m. concert on Tuesday, Jan. 31, in W.M. Turner Auditorium. Under the direction of Fred J. Allen, director of bands at Stephen F. Austin State University, the ensemble will perform the program being presented to Austin, Temple and other Central Texas high schools Monday, Jan. 30, through Tuesday, Jan. 31.

SFA music offers four performances and lectures


Paula Brusky will present a guest bassoon recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, in Cole Concert Hall and a lecture/workshop on injury prevention for musicians at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, in the Music Recital Hall. Brusky's presentations are two of four events offered this week as part of the SFA School of Music's Cole Performing Arts Series.

SFA invites public to guest piano recital and international piano competition


World-renowned pianist Barry Snyder will present a guest piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Cole Concert Hall as a prelude to the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music's 2012 Schmidbauer International Young Artists Piano Competition on Jan. 21 and 22.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Internationally acclaimed pianist Barry Snyder will kick off the 2012 Schmidbauer International Young Artist Piano Competition with a solo recital at 7:30 p.m.
