Updated smartphone app helps SFA students, faculty and staff stay connected

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Android and iPhone users can now utilize Stephen F. Austin State University's updated app. The free app can be accessed from SFA's website at http://www.sfasu.edu/app.asp or directly through the phone's app store.

Tickets still available for 'Shuffle.Play.Listen.'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are still available for the Sept. 12 performance of celebrated pianist Christopher O'Riley and renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz presenting their "Shuffle.Play.Listen." program at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in W.M. Turner Auditorium.

The concert launches the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts' 2013-2014 University Series, "Live Out Loud."

In their performance, O'Riley and Haimovitz join together in a collaboration that crosses in and out of the classical and pop music genres.

SFA dean to receive award for communication efforts

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Steven Bullard, dean of the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University, will be awarded the W. D. Hagenstein Communicator of the Year Award at the Society of American Foresters national convention in Charleston, S. C., in October.

SFA to screen 'Searching for Sugar Man'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly independent film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free, one-night screening of "Searching for Sugar Man" at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House.

SFA Gardens announces Fall Bulbs Tour


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University will host a Fall Bulb Tour on Saturday, Sept. 14, featuring the home and gardens of former extension horticulturist turned educator Greg Grant.

The tour will visit Grant's Emanis House dogtrot in Shelby County's rural community of Arcadia near Garrison. Depending on the weather, visitors may see red oxblood lilies (Rhodophiala), several different colors of spider lilies (Lycoris) or assorted rain lilies (Cooperia, Zephyranthes and Habranthus).
