Event to honor Charles Jones for his award-winning book, 'Chopper Blues'
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA Press will honor Charles D. Jones and his award-winning book, "Chopper Blues," at a reception at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at The Fredonia Hotel on the patio.
"Chopper Blues" is winner of the 2013 International Book Award for History: Military and the Texas Association of Authors 2013 First Place in Autobiography.
Tickets still available for Ailey II performance
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Tickets are still available for a performance of the Ailey II dance company when the ensemble appears at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus.
Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country's best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today's most outstanding emerging choreographers, according to the company story in the event program.
Student-directed "Brainpeople" slated for Oct. 25-26 in Downstage Theatre

SFA's Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to perform music of Steven Bryant
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band performing the music of composer Steven Bryant in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.
Songs of composer John Duke to be featured in concert
NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music and Cole Performing Arts Series will present "Into the Wild: The Songs of John Duke" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.
The program will feature pianist Dr. Ron Petti, director of accompanying at SFA, and members of the SFA voice faculty, including Debbie Berry and Charlotte Davis, sopranos; Dr. Jamie Dahman and Dr. Tod Fish, tenors; Dr. Deborah Dalton and Nita Hudson, mezzo sopranos; and Dr. Scott LaGraff, baritone.
Low brass artist, teacher Ben Pierce to perform at SFA
