SFA's Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building officially opened

Austin State University Board of Regents joined members of the administration, faculty, staff, student body and Nacogdoches community at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, marking the official opening of the newly constructed Ina Brundrett Conservation Education Building.
SFA Wind Ensemble concert to feature TMEA performance preview
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present a performance of the SFA Wind Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.
The performance will feature a preview of the Wind Ensemble's concert to be performed before the Texas Music Educators Association's 2014 Clinic/Convention later in February in San Antonio.
Peter Raven Lecture canceled
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The "Conservation in a Rapidly Changing World" lecture scheduled for Feb. 4 at the Stephen F. Austin State University Pineywoods Native Plant Center has been canceled. SFA Gardens expects to reschedule the lecture by conservationist Peter Raven at a later date. The King's Singers to perform at SFA
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The King's Singers, one of the world's most celebrated vocal ensembles, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.
The group's appearance in Nacogdoches is a feature of the SFA College of Fine Arts' University Series, "Live Out Loud."
Nacogdoches Naturally announces spring, summer events

SFA's Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band to perform music of notable composers
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform their first concert of the spring semester at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.
The theme of the concert is "Tribute," and it will feature the music of notable American and British composers, according to Dr. David Campo, associate director of bands at SFA.
'The Art of the Railroad' exhibit to open Jan. 21
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Center for Regional Heritage Research at Stephen F. Austin State University will display "The Art of the Railroad" exhibit starting Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot.
The Industrial Revolution brought about the development of the railroad in the 19th century. This invention had a profound impact on society and the art world. This exhibit focuses on the interpretation of the railroad in different periods of art history.
Children's Performing Arts Series to present 'Wizard of Oz'
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of the Fine Arts and its Children's Performing Arts Series will present "Wizard of Oz" in two performances on Friday, Jan. 31, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the SFA campus.
Presented by American Family Theater, this classic tale of Dorothy's adventures over the rainbow targets children in kindergarten through sixth grade, according to Diane J. Peterson, SFA Fine Arts Box Office manager and director of the Children's Performing Arts Series.
SFA's Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition shifts focus
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Schmidbauer Young Artist Competition at Stephen F. Austin State University has undergone significant changes since last year. The focus is now on gaining the attention of a younger generation of musicians who are beginning to plan their future careers and are looking at schools that may be best suited toward helping them reach their goals. And, hopefully SFA will be that institution.
