Did you know that more than half of the 300+ member Lumberjack Marching Band consists of non-music majors? Almost every major at SFA is represented! The LMB, known as the "boldest sound in the oldest town", is the largest and most spirited student organization on campus — all we're missing is you!
Auditions are required for twirlers, color guard members, percussionists and all wind players who aren't music majors. Wind players already accepted to SFA and the School of Music don't need to complete an additional audition for the LMB.

Course credit
All LMB members are enrolled in a music course that follows their plan of study and receive two credit hours for participating in the band. Transfer students may be eligible for upper-level credit. If you have questions, contact the band office or your advisor.
Cost
In addition to the course cost, wind and percussion members of LMB should expect to spend approximately $200 for all necessary accessories, including gloves, polo shirt, etc. All travel expenses, including meals, are paid by the School of Music.
Renting an instrument
We are able to supply some instruments, including sousaphone, marching baritone, mellophone and piccolo. Other instruments may be available in limited quantities and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. The instrument rental fee is $50.
Rehearsals and performances
Rehearsals are held 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays and on Saturday mornings of home games. The color guard rehearses one additional evening during the week.
Members of the LMB travel regularly. While this is often to football games in which SFA is the visitor or performing as an exhibition band at high school competitions throughout the state, additional opportunities to travel are found nationally and internationally.
Additional performances include the Homecoming parade in downtown Nacogdoches and a performance during the annual Homecoming bonfire pep rally.
