One of the ways that our office fulfills its mission of supporting, strengthening and promoting teaching effectiveness and student learning is by providing opportunities for professional development.

We offer workshops on topics ranging from the use of Brightspace to pedagogical principles and also facilitate conversations about best teaching practices through events like the Teaching Showcase. We also engage in constant one-on-one conversations via consultations and classroom observations. For more information on how we can collaborate with you to create positive learning experiences for students, explore the information below.

Open Educational Resource Advancement Awards

The Center for Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the Steen Library, has opened the call for proposals for the Open Educational Resource, or OER Advancement Awards.

These awards support faculty members in positively impacting students by advancing the use of OERs at SFA. Faculty members may choose to significantly redesign a course to use an OER in place of the current textbook, or they may choose to modify or expand an existing OER for use in an SFA course.

To submit your proposal, fill out this form. For more information, contact Cynthia Kilpatrick, CTL director, at cynthia.kilpatrick@sfasu.edu, or Jonathan Helmke, library director, at helmkej@sfasu.edu.
