College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Student Services

Students may take CLEP tests at SFA in Testing Services located in the Thomas J. Rusk Building, Room 328. Credit will be awarded based on SFA’s Credit by Exam Policy in effect at the time the test was taken. Students must wait six months to retake an exam, may not take an examination for a specific course more than twice and must not be currently enrolled in the course for which CLEP credit is desired. Official scores should be submitted to the SFA Office of Admissions (specify code 6682). The College Board’s CLEP Office can be reached at (800) 257-9558 to have additional score reports sent.

Retesting Policy

CLEP exams may not be retaken within a three-month period. This waiting period provides the student an opportunity to spend additional time preparing for the exam or the option of taking a classroom course. To verify the current length of the waiting period, candidates may contact CLEP Services at (800) 257-9558, (212) 237-1331 or clep@info.collegeboard.org.

The CLEP program will not release scores for an examination of the same title taken within the three-month period after the initial administration under any circumstance. This is an effort to serve both candidates and institutions by ensuring that examination scores for these “retests” are valid. If a candidate retakes the examination within the three-month period, the administration will be considered invalid, the score will be canceled and fees will be forfeited.
