Gain valuable government experience
SFA’s Legislative Internship Program gives Lumberjacks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see government in action. As part of this program, five SFA students are selected to work full-time in a variety of settings in Austin, from government offices to nonprofit organizations to publications like Texas Monthly.
Internships last for one semester, and students who participate in the program earn credit toward graduation. They also learn valuable skills and make connections that can help them launch exciting careers in government.
Selection and requirements
Each year, five SFA students are selected to participate in our Legislative Internship Program. To be considered for a place in the program, students must have junior or senior standing. Although there is no required GPA, students selected for the program typically have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students do not have to be political science majors to participate.
