If you’re interested in politics and contemporary affairs, SFA’s Department of Government is the ideal place to pursue your passion and prepare for a career. Our department is focused on specialized study in three important areas of contemporary government. 

With a degree from one of our programs, you’ll know how to interpret and evaluate the political institutions, policies, behaviors and beliefs that govern our world. And you’ll have the practical skills and tools to make a contribution in the fields of criminal justice, political science or public administration.

A message from the department chair, Dr. Kwame Badu Antwi-Boasiako

At the Department of Government, our students engage in exceptional programs including criminal justice, political science, pre-law and public administration: These are disciplines with greater career opportunities. We focus both on academic excellence and career preparation. Our students learn from knowledgeable faculty members and have the opportunity to apply what they have learned through their years at SFA in the real world.
