SFA signs agreement with Tarrant County College District

SFA to show award-winning documentary, 'War Dance'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - As part of its monthly film series, the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art and Friends of the Visual Arts will present a free one-night screening of the award-winning documentary "War Dance" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, located at 329 E. Main St. in downtown Nacogdoches.

SFA Music Prep presents October recitals


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will open its 2008-2009 performance season with two recitals in October.

Cello and violin students of Dr. Evgeni Raychev and Dr. Jennifer Dalmas will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in the Music Recital Hall of the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.

On Sunday, Oct. 26, piano students of Mary Cooper will dress in costume and perform their annual Halloween recital at 4 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall.

SFA School of Theatre presents student-directed 'The Red Key'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of Charles Emery's "The Red Key" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Downstage Theatre of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

SFA jazz bands present joint concert

SFA Wind Ensemble to present 'Salute to American Music'


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA Wind Ensemble's upcoming "Salute to American Music" will feature music by American composers and several SFA guest artists. The season-opening concert will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in W.M. Turner Auditorium on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

Featured guest conductor will be Dr. A.C. "Buddy" Himes, dean of the SFA College of Fine Arts. He will conduct Morton Gould's "American Salute," a fantasia based on the folk song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."

Tkacik takes over SFA School of Honors

AARC announces new online writing lab

Online tutoring for writing is now available to Stephen F. Austin State University students through the Academic Assistance and Resource Center, located in the Ralph W. Steen Library.

SFA to offer children's ceramic class


NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Area 6- to 12-year-olds may register for a ceramics class offered by the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Art from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, 329 E. Main Street in downtown Nacogdoches as part of the Creative Art Saturday program.

Under the guidance of and SFA art education majors and Assistant Professor Marsha Blount, participants will construct ceramic bowls that will be used in conjunction with Bowls of Hope, the annual charity drive benefiting H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat).
