SFA Gardens to host spring plant sale at new location


The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University
will host its annual Garden Gala Day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 16. The
sale is moving to a new location at the SFA Pineywoods Native Plant Center,
2900 Raguet St.

The SFA Campus Recreation's Outdoor Pursuits program will host its 4th
annual Earth Day Celebration in conjunction with this year's sale.

A wide variety of hard-to-find, "Texas tough" plants will be available,
including new introductions, Texas natives, heirlooms, perennials and

Stephen F. Austin State University will honor six faculty members at the Teaching Excellence Convocation on Wednesday, April 13, in the Regents Suites A and B in the Baker Pattillo Student Center. A reception for the honorees will begin at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Teaching Excellence Convocation at 4 p.m.

Composition students win at NACUSA-TX conference

Stephen F. Austin State University music composition students swept the undergraduate competition at the recent conference for the Texas Chapter of the National Association of Composers/USA held in San Marcos.

SFA orchestra concert features Schmidbauer winner

SFA Gardens lecture series to feature North Carolina garden writer


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The SFA Gardens at Stephen F. Austin State University will host its monthly Theresa and Les Reeves Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in Room 110 of the Agriculture Building located at 1924 Wilson Dr. Bobby Ward of Raleigh, N.C., will present a talk based on his most recent book, "Chlorophyll in His Veins - J.C. Raulston, Horticultural Ambassador."

SFA choirs to sing in New York, community participants welcome


Members of Stephen F. Austin State University's Choral Union and Women's Choir will be singing Ralph Vaughan Williams' "Dona nobis pacem" at Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center in March 2012 as part of a large choir organized by MidAmerica Productions. NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean, the fourth man to walk on the moon and an award-winning artist, will be the featured guest at the 2011 installment of the Archie McDonald Speaker Series at Stephen F. Austin State University.

The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the Grand Ballroom of the Baker Pattillo Student Center on the SFA campus.
