SFA history students, Stone Fort Museum collaborate to create crime and punishment exhibit


Stephen F. Austin State University students enrolled in Associate Professor Perky Beisel's History 308: Introduction to Public History course stand in front of a preliminary exhibit on crime and punishment commissioned by the Stone Fort Museum. Students researched the history of executions, trials, slavery and other topics in and around Nacogdoches County.

SFA's DeWitt School of Nursing participates in disaster drill


A group of Stephen F. Austin State University senior nursing students and trainees from the Nacogdoches Fire Department work together during a recent disaster drill. The drill was organized by students enrolled in SFA's Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing and is held twice a year to help condition nursing students to the hectic work environment of nurses.

Nominations open for 2017 Cum Concilio Heritage Preservation Award


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Nominations are being accepted for Stephen F. Austin State University's Stone Fort Museum's Cum Concilio Club Heritage Preservation Award, which honors those dedicated to preserving Nacogdoches and its history.

SFA's College of Education hosts second Partners in Educator Preparation Appreciation Banquet


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's educator preparation program in the James I. Perkins College of Education hosted its second Partners in Educator Preparation Appreciation Banquet May 4 on the university campus.

During their final semester before graduation, SFA students majoring in education begin their student teaching in school districts across Texas. SFA sends approximately 350 students each academic year into approximately 500 classrooms across Texas to complete their student teaching.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Richard Jones, professor of theatre at Stephen F. Austin State University, was named president of Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society earlier this spring, bringing nationwide attention to SFA and its School of Theatre.
