SFA graduate student receives Mike Shirley Orientation and Mobility Student Award

First place in Texas National 2017 was awarded to Yeqiang Wang's "Return to Classic."

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -Yeqiang Wang, an artist from Topeka, Kansas, was selected as having the winning entry in the 2017 Texas National Competition and Exhibition at Stephen F. Austin State University.

'In the Trees' outdoor concert series to feature SFA's carillon


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Dr. Brad Meyer, director of the percussion studio at Stephen F. Austin State University, will continue his "In the Trees" contemporary/new-music concert series with a performance of his original composition "For Whom …" featuring the carillon atop the Griffith Fine Arts Building on the SFA campus.

The performance will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, with audience outdoor seating in the green space between Griffith Fine Arts Building and the entrance to Cole Concert Hall in Wright Music Building.

Dedication ceremony celebrates naming of Robert and Kathy Lehmann Chemistry Building at SFA


A dedication ceremony celebrating the naming of the Robert and Kathy Lehmann Chemistry Building was held Tuesday in conjunction with a meeting of the Stephen F. Austin State University Board of Regents. Dr. Robert Lehmann established Lehmann Eye Center in Nacogdoches and is recognized for his contributions to the advancement of surgical techniques in the management of eye diseases. His wife, Kathy, attended SFA and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Reserved for exemplary community and university role models, the title of Regents Professor is the highest honor SFA bestows upon faculty members.

SFA Rusche College of Business alumna lands dream job at Amazon


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - When opportunity came knocking on the door of Ana Romero, Stephen F. Austin State University Rusche College of Business alumna, she answered with a determined curiosity.

"My friend messaged me one day and said there was a position opening at Amazon and I should apply," Romero said. "I thought, 'I'll go for it. There's no harm in trying.' I had heard Amazon's interview process was brutal, so I didn't know what my odds were."

Speech-language pathology students at SFA present research findings


NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Speech-language pathology graduate students at Stephen F. Austin State University recently presented findings from their capstone research projects, part of the Department of Human Services' curriculum requirements to earn a Master of Science in speech-language pathology.
