Equipping you with knowledge and experience to launch your career with confidence, Career Success Passport is a required zero-cost, zero-credit professional development and career readiness program for all business majors to be taken each semester.
This formalized, structured, activity-based course is designed to help you:
- develop business skills and knowledge outside the classroom
- build leadership and personal branding skills
- and gain access to scholarship opportunities, networking events and support.
Activities progress in difficulty and complexity as you complete your plan of study. Participation begins in your first semester and continues until you graduate.
Examples of activities
The program features a wide variety of activities that are designed for participation by students at all course levels. Each activity offers an opportunity to earn between three and 60 passport points.
- Exploring career fields
- Assessing career readiness
- Creating a LinkedIn account
- Locating the Center for Career and Professional Development
- Interviewing a professional
- Determining personal/professional values
- Requesting a résumé critique
- Setting goals
- Job shadowing
- Connecting with professionals via LinkedIn
- Meeting with a CCPD career coach
Scholarship opportunities
The Career Success Passport program provides opportunities to earn scholarships, when available. To earn a Career Success Passport scholarship, you must:
- be pursuing a degree in the Rusche College of Business
- be one of the designated top participants in your classification based on points you earn in a full semester
- accumulate significantly more points than the course minimum
- and be in good academic standing (minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA) at the time of the award disbursement.
For certain students, the earning of this scholarship may impact other your eligibility for other financial assistance. Speak with your financial aid advisor to discuss the risks of losing current and/or future aid.

Registering for BUSI 1000
Before you can register for any classes, you must meet with your academic advisor and clear any holds on your account.
Visit the registration page in mySFA and follow the steps to register. You must register for BUSI 1000 each semester and access the class through Brightspace by D2L.
Note: On step two, you will perform a class schedule search. To view all BUSI 1000 sections:
- Select "Business" from the subject options.
- Enter "1000" in the course number field.
- Click "Class Search" to view results.
The BUSI 1000 sections are based on student classification. Locate the course section that matches your classification and note the section number (for example, BUSI 1000.501).

BUSI 1000 Career Success Passport is one of the business common courses required for all business students. Graduating with a business degree from SFA includes successful completion of this course and associated "passport points."
