Learn the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies in the American Red Cross Lifeguard course at SFA. You will also learn how to provide professional-level care until emergency medical services arrive for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses.

Preparation
You must complete the following before the first day of training:
- Successfully complete the online Introduction to the Lifeguarding prerequisite course.
- Complete and pass both tests during the pre-course skills session:
- swim-tread-swim
- and brick retrieval.
- Obtain the digital American Red Cross Lifeguarding Manual.

Registration deadline: Feb. 14
Mandatory pre-course skills session: 6 p.m. Feb. 19
Participants meet:
- 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22
- and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.
Recertification review course
This course is best suited for those with current lifeguarding certification who simply need to renew.
