Getting involved

It’s no secret that Lumberjacks make great nurses. Our nursing students have access to world-class facilities and simulation labs, and they attend classes taught by experienced nursing professionals.

But that’s not the only thing that makes our nursing program stand out: As a nursing student at SFA, you’ll have the opportunity to join a variety of student organizations that will help you build connections, learn more about career paths in nursing, attend conferences and give back to your community.

For more information about nursing clubs and organizations, you can contact your faculty advisor to find the best fit for your interests.

Organizations

Organizations associated with the DeWitt School of Nursing are open to nursing majors, including students currently enrolled in the nursing program and pre-nursing students.

Students who are members of the local chapters have the option to join state and national organizations that offer opportunities for professional development, leadership, community service projects and more:

Honor societies

Nursing students who meet GPA and coursework requirements may be eligible for membership in the SFA chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Members of SFA’s chapter, Omicron Eta, participate in a variety of community service projects, and they have access to unique scholarship opportunities, as well as opportunities for networking, continuing education, career guidance and mentoring.

After graduation, nurses have the opportunity to join as a Nurse Leader. Visit the Sigma webpage to submit your application today.
