SFA students have access to hundreds of opportunities to get scholarship funding to help you with college expenses. You just need to explore and apply!
Biology Scholarships
Lumberjacks pursuing a major or minor in biology are also eligible for several specific scholarships including:
Anna Beth Connell Scholarship
This scholarship is available to female students who plan to enter the medical field. To qualify, applicants must be juniors or seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.5. East Texas residents will be given priority.
David Robertson Memorial Scholarship by Pfizer, Inc.
This scholarship is available to juniors and seniors majoring in chemistry or biology with an emphasis on health research. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Harry and Betty McDonald Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to junior and senior biology majors who have a GPA of 3.00 or higher, and can demonstrate financial need.
Homer T. Russell Family Scholarship
Biology majors who are of at least sophomore standing and hold a GPA of 3.25 are eligible for this award.
J.H. Burr Scholarship
This scholarship is available to juniors who are majoring in biology and have a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Matthew Clark Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to students on a pre-dentistry track. Recipients must be U.S. citizens and have a GPA of 3.25 of higher.
Philip Taylor Reynolds, D.D.S. Scholarship
This award is available to biology majors who are pursuing a pre-dental program. To be eligible, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be a graduate of Center High School
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Be a US citizen
Russell C. Faulkner Scholarship
Biology or pre-professional majors who are juniors or seniors can receive this award if they have a GPA of 3.50 or higher.
Sam and Tannie Gandy Scholarship
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be on a pre-dentistry track and have at least 12 hours at SFA. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 or higher.
STEM Scholarship
SFA awards $10,000 per year to students pursuing STEM majors, including biochemistry, biology, chemistry, computer science, computer information systems, engineering physics, geology, information technology, mathematics, nursing and physics.
To be considered, you must:
- Enter SFA in the fall as an incoming freshman or a transfer student
- Declare a STEM major
- Complete and submit the scholarship application with accompanying essay
- Submit at least one letter of recommendation from a high school or college STEM faculty member
- Have a GPA of 3.50 or higher and a major GPA of 3.00 or higher (transfer students), OR a minimum SAT score of 600 or an ACT score of 26 (incoming freshman students)
- Interview with the STEM scholarship committee
Scholarship recipients who maintain eligibility can receive $10,000 per year for up to four years.
University Regents Scholarship – Biology
This award is for first-time incoming students at the freshman, sophomore or junior level who plan to major in biology or biochemistry. Learn more about requirements and renewals.
W.E. and Barbara Gandy Scholarship
This award is for students pursuing a pre-dentistry track. To qualify, applicants must have a 3.25 GPA and have earned at least 12 hours at SFA.
Walter Mike Robertson Scholarship
This scholarship is for to students majoring in biology or who are pursuing a pre-professional program. A minimum GPA of 3.00 is required.
William Pitts Scholarship
Biology majors pursuing a pre-medicine program are eligible for this award so long as they have a GPA of 3.50 or higher, and can demonstrate financial need.
W.T. Williamson Scholarship
This scholarship is available to students graduating from Cushing High School, and preference is given to a recipient majoring in forestry, agriculture, biology or geology. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a 2.50 GPA or higher, and demonstrate financial need.
