Our degree programs are accredited by some of the world’s largest, most respected societies and certification boards. All programs at SFA are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, or SACSCOC, and information can be found at https://www.sfasu.edu/accreditations. This accreditation provides oversight in the development and continued refinement to all of our programs.

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry 

• The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS)
• The Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB)

Department of Computer Science

• The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Computer Science Program Criteria.

Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy

• The Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics degree is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commissions’ General Criteria and Program Criteria for engineering physics.

The Richard and Lucille DeWitt School of Nursing

• The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is accredited by the Accreditation Commission in Education on Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• The Associate Degree to Bachelor of Science in Nursing online degree is accredited by the Accreditation Commission in Education on Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• The Master of Science in Nursing, with Family Nurse Practitioner focus, online degree is accredited by the Accreditation Commission in Education on Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.
• The Master of Science in Nursing, with Nurse Education focus, online degree is accredited by the Accreditation Commission in Education on Nursing (ACEN) and is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.
