Make scholarship applications a priority

You’ve completed your application to SFA, scheduled an appointment with an advisor, found a place to live and even mocked up a class schedule. Your next decision – how are you going to pay for it all?    

SFA students have access to hundreds of opportunities to get scholarship funding to help with college expenses. You just need to explore and apply!

Military science/ROTC scholarships

ROTC cadets, veterans and military science students at SFA also are eligible for several specific scholarships.

Army ROTC scholarships

Students who participate in ROTC may be eligible for several scholarships available through the United States Army. To learn more about the scholarships available check out the United States Army ROTC scholarship page.

Army ROTC nursing scholarships

ROTC cadets pursuing an undergraduate nursing degree may be eligible for two-, three- or four-year scholarships and unique training programs through the United States Army. Learn more.

Country for Our Country Veteran Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to students who meet one of the following requirements:

  • Is a veteran of any branch of the United States military
  • Is a current member of any branch of the United States military
  • Is a cadet in the ROTC program
  • Is the son or daughter of a veteran of any branch of the United States military. 

Students must be in good standing with the university to be eligible.

 

Justin M. Shank Memorial Scholarship

This renewable scholarship is awarded to students who meet one of the following requirements:

  • Is a veteran of any branch of the United States military
  • Is the son or daughter of a veteran of any branch of the United States military

To be eligible for renewal, recipients must be enrolled at SFA full time and in good standing with the university.

Residential Facilities Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance for on-campus housing. To qualify, students must be ROTC cadets with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, meet all medical and citizenship requirements, and be a full-time student admitted to SFA.

 

Simultaneous Membership Program Guarantee Reserve Force Duty Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance for tuition, books, housing and living expenses, as well as drill pay and GI Bill®  funding.

Thomas J. and Warrena A. Taylor Scholarship

This scholarship is available to students who graduated from Nacogdoches or Shelby County high school with a “B” average or higher. The award is renewable for up to eight semesters for students who meet the following requirements:

  • Majoring in nursing or forestry; or minoring in military science 
  • Be a full-time student at SFA
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher

Additional scholarships for military science and ROTC students

In addition to the scholarships listed above, the Department of Military Science offers two- and three-year scholarships that assist with tuition, books and living expenses. To be eligible, students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher, meet all medical and citizenship requirements and be a full-time student admitted to SFA.
