Educational Outreach

SFA Gardens offers educational programs for students designed to get them outside, encouraging curiosity about the natural world. Pre-visit packets include information to help educators and their students prepare for their visit to the SFA Gardens. The packet also includes the science Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills that the activities will cover.

Earth Explorations

This new event is for students in third grade. Earth Explorations is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 3. Cost is $5 per student, with no charge for accompanying teachers and chaperones. Please complete this form to register your third grade students for this event.

Bugs, Bees, Butterflies and Blossoms

This annual spring event is for students in kindergarten through second grade. The 2025 Bugs, Bees, Butterflies and Blossoms event is scheduled for March 24, 25 and 27. Classes rotate among four activity stations during the event. Cost is $5 per student, with no charge for accompanying teachers and chaperones. Pineywoods Summer Camps

The Pineywoods Summer Camps are returning! The 2025 Wonder Woods Camp will host children aged 4 to 6 years old for one week (June 2-6) of one-half day activities. Two Jack Creek Camps for children aged 7 to 10 years old will be held June 9-13 and June 16-20. Up to 24 children are accepted per camp. Check back for registration information.

EcoAdventures: A Homeschool Journey into Nature

This event is for homeschool K-12 students. The students are placed in groups with students in similar grades and the groups rotate among stations during the EcoAdventures event. This event is scheduled for September 2025. The event cost is $5 per student, with no charge for accompanying adults.

Wild About Science

This annual fall event provides fourth and fifth graders outdoor nature-based learning adventures. Classes rotate among three activity stations during the event. Cost is $5 per student, with no charge for accompanying teachers and chaperones. Check back for registration information.

Learning Excursions

In addition to the large educational programs offered each year, SFA Gardens environmental educational programs staff, volunteers and partnering organizations host smaller groups of students for nature-based learning excursions that meet the students’ educational needs.
