The Stone Fort Museum will launch the El Camino Real de los Tejas Heritage Education Project with a weekend workshop for heritage resource practitioners March 7-8 at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Designated as a National Historic Trail in 2004, the "King's Highway" - now Texas Highway 21 - has existed for more than 300 years. Workshop participants will be provided with a broad spectrum of information on the trail and tools for incorporating the information into interpretive programs related to the El Camino Real.

Operating hours at the Ralph W. Steen Library at Stephen F. Austin State University will change in observance of the school's spring break. On Friday, March 13, the library will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library will be closed from March 14, to March 21.

Normal operating hours will resume on Sunday, March 22, at noon.

Students from Stephen F. Austin State University conduct research at the historic Zion Hill Cemetery near downtown Nacogdoches. A model cemetery-interpretation program is being created for Zion Hill and nearby Oak Grove Cemetery through a "Preserve America" grant from the National Park Service.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn's birth, the Choral Union and Women's Choir at Stephen F. Austin State University will present a joint concert featuring Mendelssohn's choral works at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, in Cole Concert Hall.

"Mendelssohn stood at the forefront of German music during the 1830s and 1840s and ranks with the greatest of nineteenth century composers," said David Howard, director of both choirs.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The SFA A Cappella Choir's spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, will feature some of the music the choir will be performing during its May tour to Italy.

"We invite the East Texas community to Cole Concert Hall to hear a portion of the program we will be singing at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and Santa Maria Maggiore in Florence," said Tim King, SFA director of choral activities and the A Cappella Choir's director.
