SFA SummerStage Festival to bring popular classics to life
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre has renamed its summer theatre program, giving it a fresh new image and approach that's sure to please audiences of all ages.
The 2014 SFA SummerStage Festival, formerly called Summer Repertory Theatre, will feature Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," adapted by Anne Coulter Martens, and Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird," adapted by Christopher Sergel. The festival runs June 27 through July 18.
SFA to screen award-winning '20 Feet From Stardom' documentary

SFA students present recreation management plan for Lanana Creek Trail Corridor
During the spring 2014 semester, students enrolled in the forestry program's capstone course, Forest Resource Management, produced four versions of a recreation management plan for the trail corridor extending from north Stallings Drive to Main Street, including the SFA Recreational Trails and Gardens east of University Drive. The students divided the study area into recreation management zones and conducted a comprehensive resource inventory, mapping existing resources, activity areas and facilities.
Selden elected to SNAG board
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Lauren B. Selden, associate professor of art at Stephen F. Austin State University, was recently elected as a board member for the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
Founded in 1969, SNAG is an international nonprofit organization that serves as the primary organization of jewelers and metal artists in North America. Members include independent studio artists, teachers, students, gallerists, collectors, curators and writers. Selden is the area advisor for metals and jewelry for the SFA School of Art.

SFA to test emergency preparedness
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - If you see firefighters, police officers, paramedics and sheriff's deputies flocking to the Stephen F. Austin State University campus Wednesday, don't panic. It is only a drill.
Emergency responders and SFA employees will run a full-scale emergency operation preparedness exercise from 1 to 5 p.m. May 14. In addition to university police officers, the Nacogdoches Police Department and fire department, county sheriff's office and EMS will participate.
