NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House, Stephen F. Austin State University's historic downtown art gallery, will be open regular hours during spring break.

An encore screening of the film "Koo-Hoot Kiwat: The Caddo Grass House" will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24, in Cole Art Center. In the PBS film, which is directed by Curtis Craven, a Caddo tribal elder and his apprentice return to their ancestral homeland in East Texas to direct the construction of a traditional grass house.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a flute and piano recital when guest artists Meghan Bennett and Maria Lyapkova perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 28, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Bennett is adjunct instructor of flute at Prairie View A&M University, and Lyapkova is a teaching assistant at The University of Texas in Austin.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's planetarium in the Cole STEM Building will premiere two new shows Saturday, March 30, offering exciting, educational experiences for viewers of all ages.

The planetarium has public shows every Saturday with group shows available throughout the week upon reservation.

"Earth, Moon & Sun," geared toward children ages 7 to 13 but open to all ages, will be presented at 3 p.m. Tickets are $3.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Through a partnership with the Early Childhood Laboratory, Stephen F. Austin State University interior design students worked with 5- and 6-year-olds in prekindergarten and after-school care to design bedrooms.

SFA students were split into two groups, one worked with the prekindergarten students and the other with children in after-school care.

Austin State University Early Childhood Lab, in partnership with the Greater East Texas Community Action Program's Head Start, invites the community to participate in the Week of the Young Child, which will be observed Monday, April 8, through Friday, April 12, in Nacogdoches County.

As part of the national Week of the Young Child, Nacogdoches will honor young children and all those who make a difference in children's lives.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music and its Friends of Music Concert Series will present a rescheduling of the faculty chamber recital “Zodiacal Light” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

The recital will feature Christina Guenther, flute; Christopher Ayer, clarinet; Lee Goodhew, bassoon; and Ron Petti, piano. They will perform works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Roger Zare, Kyle Hovatter and Daniel Dorff.

Austin State University’s campus media outlets were recognized with a combined 20 awards for journalistic excellence at the 2019 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association’s annual convention and competition held March 13 through 16 in Corpus Christi.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's Office of Multicultural Affairs will host the series "Something to Chew On" from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 8 in the Office of Multicultural Affairs located in the Baker Pattillo Student Center, Rooms 3.101 and 3.102.

The series helps stimulate open dialogue regarding current issues among the campus community. This event will focus on "Generational Trauma: Breaking the Cycle" and feature discussions involving how this trauma relates to how people are today.
