Students who don't meet admission requirements may pursue alternative methods for admission.

Considerations for extenuating circumstances

Extenuating circumstances

The Academic Opportunity Program is designed to identify first-semester freshman students who did not meet the admission requirements as a result of significant extenuating circumstances. Space is limited and documentation required. Applications must be submitted at least five business days before the semester and are reviewed on a continuing basis for the fall and spring semesters.

Transfer from another institution

Option to transfer

First-semester freshmen not meeting admission requirements may attend an accredited community college or four-year university to gain admission to SFA for a future semester if they successfully complete:

  • at least 15 semester hours of transferable work after high school graduation
  • with a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Reapply to SFA: When you reapply for admission to SFA, submit all official college transcript(s) that reflect the above completed criteria.

Students who participate in the Jacks Jumpstart program may not need to reapply to SFA for admission.
